Tan Sri Dato' Seri Tunku Ahmad Bin Tunku Yahaya
Tan Sri Dato' Seri Tunku Ahmad Bin Tunku Yahaya, a Malaysian, aged 90, is our Independent Non-Executive Chairman. He was appointed to our Board on 12 November 2018.
Tunku Ahmad Yahaya obtained his BA (Econ) from the University of Bristol in 1955 and is a fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, United Kingdom (“UK”).
Tunku Ahmad Yahaya began his career as an Assistant of the Kedah State Treasury in 1958. He then joined Dunlop Estates Berhad in 1959 as an Accountant before moving to join Dunlop Malaysian Industries Berhad (“DMIB”) as its Managing Director in 1973. He left in 1978 and in 1979, he joined Sime Darby Berhad. He was the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Sime Darby Group from 1982 to 1993 and
subsequently served as its Non-Independent Non-Executive Director and Deputy Chairman. He resigned from his position as the Deputy Chairman in 2007.
Tunku Ahmad Yahaya was also appointed as a Director of Bank Negara Malaysia from 1966 to 1995. During this period, he was also the Chairman of the Audit Committee from 1989 to 1995.
Tunku Ahmad Yahaya was a Non-Independent Non-Executive Director and Chairman of Tractors Malaysia Holdings Berhad since 1979 and 2004 respectively. He was also the Non-Executive Chairman of Sime Engineering Services Berhad (previously known as DMIB) in 1995.
Tunku Ahmad Yahaya was appointed as the first Chairman of the Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation (“MATRADE”). Furthermore, he is a founding member of the Malaysian Business Council in 1991 and a member of the Commonwealth Business Council.
Tunku Ahmad Yahaya was the Independent Non-Executive Director of KLCC Property Holdings Berhad from 2004 to 2010. He was also the Non-Independent. Non-Executive Director of iCapital.biz Berhad from 2005 to 2014.
